Quick legal reminder
Section 117 of the Mental Health Act places a joint duty on the integrated care board and the local authority to provide aftercare to people who have been detained under qualifying sections (3, 37, 45A, 47 or 48). Section 117 services are free of charge and continue until both bodies agree the person no longer needs them.
